Royal Era

You've seen it in the movies - the little mechanical fly that could be controlled to fly around and spy on people. Now it's real! But it's not a mechanical fly; it's a living beetle. The flower beetle can be rigged with electrodes and a radio receiver to allow scientists to control the flight of the beetle remotely. "Pulses sent to the bug's muscles or optic lobes can command it to take off, turn left or right, or hover," and because this insect is so big (up to four inches), it is able to carry a camera which can be used for surveillance. The native flight-control ability was admired so much that researchers abandoned developing "robot beetles".
